Frequently Asked Questions

What is GRIP-X?

GRIP-X is a patented shoe grip spray designed to help improve traction and court control on indoor surfaces—especially courts that are dusty, worn, or affected by humidity.

Why was GRIP-X developed?

GRIP-X was developed following feedback from Australian coaches playing overseas on substandard courts, as well as local players and parents competing on poor-quality indoor surfaces. Many reported inconsistent grip and slippery conditions impacting confidence and performance. GRIP-X was created to help address these challenges by improving shoe traction when court conditions are less than ideal.

Who is GRIP-X for?

GRIP-X is suitable for indoor court athletes of all levels—from juniors to professionals—when used as directed. It is commonly used by basketball, squash, badminton, indoor netball, volleyball, futsal, table tennis, pickleball, and other indoor court sport athletes.

Why would my child need GRIP-X?

Indoor courts are not always well maintained. Dust, moisture, and humidity can reduce traction, even with good-quality shoes. GRIP-X helps reduce unwanted slip, supporting more stable footwork and confident movement during play.

Does GRIP-X help improve performance?

By helping reduce unwanted slip, GRIP-X supports better balance, sharper movement, and more reliable footwork—so every movement feels deliberate, powerful, and controlled, particularly on poor-quality indoor courts.

Will GRIP-X damage my child’s shoes?

No. GRIP-X is formulated to be non-harsh and non-damaging to rubber shoe soles when used as directed. It is designed to work with indoor sports footwear, not break it down like some aggressive grip products.

Does GRIP-X contain harsh chemicals?

No. GRIP-X is formulated without harsh or aggressive chemicals and is designed for controlled application to shoe soles only.

Is GRIP-X non-toxic?

GRIP-X is formulated to be non-toxic when used as directed. As with all sports products, it should be applied in a well-ventilated area and kept out of reach of children when not in use.

Is GRIP-X an aerosol spray?

No. GRIP-X is not an aerosol. It uses a controlled spray mechanism for precise, light application.

Is GRIP-X the same as using hair spray on shoes?

No. GRIP-X is specifically designed for athletic use on indoor sports shoes, while hair spray is a cosmetic product not intended for footwear, courts, or athletic performance.

Hair sprays often rely on adhesive cosmetic polymers designed to hold hair in place. When applied to shoe soles, these adhesive molecules can attract and trap dust and debris, which actually reduce traction very quickly – especially on already dusty or poorly maintained courts. Hair spray can also dry out rubber soles, leave unpredictable residue, and may damage shoes or indoor court surfaces.

GRIP-X is a non-aerosol, water-based performance grip formula engineered to enhance traction while minimising dust build-up. When used as directed, it provides controlled, consistent grip without relying on sticky cosmetic adhesives, and is formulated to be non-harsh on rubber shoe soles.

Will GRIP-X damage indoor courts or leave residue?

When applied correctly and in light amounts, GRIP-X is designed to enhance shoe traction without leaving excessive residue. Always follow application directions and comply with venue rules.

Does GRIP-X replace proper footwear?

No. GRIP-X is designed to complement good-quality indoor sports shoes, not replace them. Proper footwear, correct fit, and regular shoe maintenance remain essential. From feedback GRIP-X helps bring life back to older shoes lacking grip.

How often should GRIP-X be applied?

A light application before play is usually sufficient. Once shoes are primed, a quick light mist can be reapplied as needed to maintain performance.

Is GRIP-X based on proven grip technology?

Yes. Water-based tree-resin grip materials have a long history of use in high-performance, high-reliability industries where secure handling and controlled movement are critical. These materials are widely used across military, emergency services, and industrial applications, particularly in gloves, equipment handling, and climbing operations, where grip must remain consistent in dusty, humid, or unpredictable environments.

This same proven grip principle, using high-quality water-based resin technologies, is what inspired the creation of GRIP-X.

Is GRIP-X safe for junior athletes?

When used as directed and under appropriate supervision, GRIP-X is suitable for junior athletes. It is applied only to the soles of shoes and is designed to support controlled movement on indoor courts.
